【《華人》傳媒 , September 2, 2026】No matter where life goes, there is always a melody flowing quietly in our hearts.

Sponsored by the Bel Canto Performance Foundation and presented by the San Diego Chinese Choral Society, the 2026 concert "Alway Something Sings" will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 7 p.m. at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Poway.

Music Director Yu-Ying Emily Lee stated that songs accompany our joys and sorrows, carrying warm memories. This year's repertoire is rich, diverse, and moving, encompassing choral masterpieces from ancient and modern times, both Chinese and foreign:

  • The beauty of classical and sacred music : from Bruckner's solemn and concise "Locus Iste" and Mozart's clear and elegant "Laudate Dominum" to Mark Hayes's deeply moving "Surely He Has Borne Our Grief" and Steiner's a cappella "God so Loved the World," feel the power to soothe your soul in the natural sound field of the church.
  • Eastern sentiments and classic songs : warm interpretations of Taiwanese and Chinese classics such as "Holding Hands", "Looking at the Spring Breeze" and "Moonlight in the City", as well as "If Tomorrow Is the Next Life" adapted from a Tzu Chi song and the moving song "Applause", evoking deep-seated resonance with the years.
  • Poetic and musically captivating : The performance features the contemporary choral masterpiece "Alway Something Sings" (composed by Dan Forrest), inspired by Emerson's poetry, as well as a medley of popular musical theatre selections from "Les Misérables," "Fiddler on the Roof," and "The Sound of Music."

In addition to the choir's wonderful performances, several senior musicians will also share the stage for a chamber string program.

We cordially invite you and your family and friends to come and spend a warm and wonderful weekend evening surrounded by beautiful melodies.
